About Us

Golden Gate Insurance Services is a full service, family owned, private investigation firm, conducting Insurance related Investigations. We give our clients a finished work product that is second to none. We strive to be number one, the same way Mr. Hansen worked to be number one and valedictorian in all his law enforcement academies. Mr. Hansen firmly believes if you are going to do something, do it to the best of your ability or do not do it at all. Mr. Hansen has now passed 30 years of training and experience on to his son, Steven. GGIS provides insurance companies, businesses, and small independent firms with an excellent "investigative work product" so that they can make a proper, well-informed, claim decision. Steven knows a person who gets hurt on the job wants to get better and return to work as soon as they can. Therefore, by immediately conducting a proper investigation of the facts, the individual can get whatever medical assistance they may need to recover and return to work.

Golden Gate Insurance Services was established in 2001 by Douglas Hansen, while he was still managing Fog City Investigations. After conducting insurance investigations for ten years, under Fog City Investigations, Golden Gate Insurance Services was finally given its own name in 2006. We use investigative tactics learned and polished over a 35 year period while working with such agencies as the California Department of Insurance, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Our investigative training and experience, gives us a 98% sub-rosa success rate and our "work product" is superior. We stand 100% behind our work, and always go the extra mile. We have our own radio network with mountain top repeaters which makes an impossible surveillance, possible.

We created a separate web site containing a case referral form so clients and adjusters can simply fill out the form and press the submit button. At GGIS Insurance investigations is all we do. We get the job right the first time, and we understand the true meaning of "case cost". We offer flat rates for sub rosa and AOE/COE assignments, if the client prefers. We will also furnish an unlimited number of reports and DVD or VHS film copies at no charge. In exchange for your business, regular clients of ours will get a predetermined amount of "Totally Free" cases worked annually, compliments of GGIS. When we do surveillance, all surveillance's are conducted properly with AT LEAST TWO investigators using our own radio network at no additional charge to the client. A "one man" surveillance is a product of Hollywood, and that is where it should stay.

Professional Achievements

After earning a degree in Criminal Justice, Mr. Hansen worked over 23 years as a law enforcement investigator conducting in-depth criminal investigations. Mr. Hansen has qualified as an investigative expert through out the Unite States, and testifies accordingly when retained. Mr. Hansen is a graduate and Valedictorian of four Major Law Enforcement Academies, and has completed numerous investigative training programs over a 33 year period. Some of Mr. Hansen's most notable accomplishments include:

  • United States Drug Enforcement Academy, United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington, DC (Valedictorian).
  • South Dakota State Municipal Police Academy, Pierre, SD. (Rank 2nd)
  • California Department of Corrections, San Quentin, CA (Valedictorian).
  • San Francisco Police Academy, San Francisco, CA (Valedictorian).
  • Advanced P.O.S.T. Certificate, California Peace Officer Standards of Training

While working as a Police Investigator, Mr. Hansen received two medals of valor, three San Francisco Police Commission Commendations, One F.B.I commendation for locating and apprehending FIVE ARMED BANK ROBBERS within one hour of the Bank Robbery, and over 300 Captain commendations for outstanding police work.

Mr. Hansen's most notable criminal case as a private investigator, was the People v Burleson (1995 - 2000). A complex case involving, Domestic Violence, a convicted murderer diagnosed as a genius, who was facing California's "Three Strikes" law, Stalking, and 19 hours of terrifying recorded death threats, later charged as "Terrorist Threats". It was after doing this case, and dealing with the real "Hannibal" that Mr. Hansen dropped criminal work for four years and concentrated only on insurance work.

One of Mr. Hansen's most notable, in-depth, civil cases took almost four years to complete, (2004 - 2008), and we literally saved a corporation almost one hundred and fifty million dollars. Mr. Hansen exposed the perpetrators to his clients within days of them losing control of the business to a very clever ex-convict.

“All work requiring the California Department of Motor Vehicles, The Federal Credit Reporting Act, and/or The Gramm- Leach- Bailey Act are regulated by law, and are lawfully Complied with.”
